Aroha is To Love Life
Aroha is the Maori word for Love. Aro means Focus Love and Ha means Breath which is Life Force. The greater our love, the greater our life force, the greater our capacity to activate our full potential. A Maori saying emphasised throughout the ages states:
Ko te mea nui, ko te aroha
The greatest thing is love.
The aim of this site is to help pass this message forward so that we always remember, that our true purpose is To Aroha – To Love Life and there are a myriad ways that we can express this love. So much diversity to help reflect Aroha, how can we ever be bored.
Acknowledging A Life Force
The expression Kia Ora is a Maori greeting that has a deeply profound meaning. Kia means to be and ora means wellness. Ora is made up of o meaning of and ra meaning primeval light and sound. Ora is very similar to aura. So when I greet you with Kia Ora I am recognising your light heritage by saying, “Greetings Radiant Light Being.”
Modern science now understands that we are electrical beings. As Maori we know ourselves as nga tama a rangi – the children of light. Whaia te maramatanga means to follow enlightenment.
The original Maori orators left the legacy of love within a language of light teachings. I grew up knowing my language was one of greatness, as expressed in the term Reo Rangatira. We are often reminded to always hold fast to the language, to not let it be lost. My commitment to this has been to explore the root words and their sound origins. What I find is each word holds a story. Each story relates deeply to our human origins from light and our immense potential as light beings and human beings. As Maori we remind ourselves of this by proclaiming,
”He Atua, He Tangata!”
Aroha Nui
Much Love
